Reiki is based on the idea of unseen ‘energy’ which flows through all living creatures, and is our life essence. This Japanese technique encourages stress reduction, pain relief and relaxation, by acting as a channel for energy to flow between client and practitioner.

Reiki encourages the release of endorphins - chemical compounds found in our brain - which act as the body’s natural pain killers and mood lifters. REIKI encourages the release of these endorphins, thereby promoting emotional and physical well-being.


Reiki is a natural and simple healing method.  The practitioner uses her hands, laying them directly upon or just above her client, whilst acting as a conduit for energy to be channelled and exchanged between herself and her client.

How does REIKI work?
Your practitioner is a channel; by placing her hands near, or upon you, positive energy will be exchanged between you as you relax, either laying down on a couch, or sitting in a comfortable chair.
At the beginning of each session there is the opportunity to discuss your needs and wishes; Reiki takes place with the client remaining fully clothed, and you will be offered a blanket and cushions for your comfort. Your journey awaits...

At your first session
a detailed medical history is taken to help in determining a tailored reiki treatment.
the length of the session will be discussed at the beginning of the treatment, or at the time the appointment is made.
you will be asked to remove your shoes (but no other clothing).
you will be offered a blanket and eye mask for your comfort.

During Treatment
you may experience sensations of heat or cold, or niggly aches or pains  - this is normal and indicates areas of imbalance in the body.
We are often asked by our clients whether they should talk, or remain quiet, during a session;  our experience has shown us that the client will always do whatever is appropriate for them at the time of the treatment – there is no right or wrong way to enjoy your session.

After your Treatment
For maximum benefit you are advised to rest after your treatment (if possible) – this helps your body’s natural healing process; and you can enjoy the relaxing effects too.
Drink plenty of fluids – water is best – this helps flush away toxins.  Try to avoid alcohol and tobacco for at least 24 hours.

At all times DON’T HESITATE to ask your therapist for advice or to call your therapist after the session, or in between sessions, if you require help or information.
